Wider screen lets you see more of what's around. Compare these actual size views of a 3-inch (diagonal) screen

and a 4.3-inch diagonal widescreen
Widescreen -- See Better, See More
The widescreen format gives you 70% more actual screen area than a 3.5-inch screen. Primarily this translates into a better view of the area through which you are driving. This is especially useful in showing you what parks, restaurants, ATM, gas stations, etc. are nearby, or in letting you know whether a detour is a good idea. Also, the device itself is larger, meaning controls on the screen are more widely spaced and somewhat easier to push.

FM Transmitter -- Hear Better, Hear More
Instead of straining your ears to hear turn-by-turn directions or your favorite MP3s, you can enjoy wireless FM audio transmission via the nüvi 660's wireless FM transmitter. Tune your car's radio to the appropriate station and you'll hear all the nüvi's audio, including voice prompts, MP3s, audio books, and more, directly through your vehicle's stereo system. The nüvi 660 includes many "must-have" entertainment and travel tools, including digital music and audio book playback, JPEG picture viewer, currency converters, and more. All these great features make the nüvi 660 a complete Personal Travel Assistant.

First Rate Map Data
The nüvi 660 comes ready to go right out of the box with preloaded City Navigator NT street maps, including a hefty POI database with hotels, restaurants, fuel, ATMs and more. Simply touch the color screen to enter a destination, and nüvi takes you there with 2D or 3D maps and turn-by-turn voice directions. Garmin gets its map data from NAVTEQ, a world leader in premium-quality mapping.

In addition, the nüvi 660 accepts custom points of interest (POIs), such as school zones and safety cameras and lets you set proximity alerts to warn you of upcoming POIs

Important note about map updates: Due to our high volume of sales, almost every Garmin portable GPS navigator sold by Amazon.com will come with the most recent map version. If you ever do need a map update, you can purchase one from Amazon.com at our Garmin Store.

Hands-Free Calling
In more and more places, it is becoming illegal to use cell phones while driving without a hands-free kit. The nüvi 660's Bluetooth capability, microphone and speaker lets match it to any bluetooth-capable phone to make hands-free mobile phone calls. Simply dial the phone number with the nüvi's touch screen keypad to make a call on a compatible phone. To answer an incoming call, just tap the screen and speak into the built-in microphone. Making and taking calls on the road has never been easier, or safer. In addition, Garmin makes it a breeze to look-up and dial numbers from your personalized phone book or even tap into your cell phone's call history log.

Integrated FM Traffic Receiver

Steer clear of traffic with an integrated FM traffic receiver designed to receive alerts from TMC Clear Channel about traffic tie-ups and road construction that might lie ahead on your route. All you have to do is simply touch the screen to view traffic details and you'll be ready to detour around any problem area. And if you end up missing a turn, or you're forced into a detour that is not relayed through the traffic receiver, the nüvi's sophisticated automatic routing will get you back on track in no time.

In most areas, TMC Clear Channel traffic broadcasts are continuous — there's no waiting for scheduled traffic news updates or random alerts. Because traffic broadcasts are received via a "silent" FM data channel, you can still listen to music or news programming on your car radio without interference from incoming FM traffic data transmissions.

A 3-month subscription to TMC Clear Channel's Total Traffic Network is included with purchase of this device. For more information on subscription fees, coverage in individual cities, and traffic data networks in the United Kingdom and Europe, check the Garmin website.

Easy To Use Interface
Garmin's interface is a key to their success and one of the things that makes their devices such a pleasure to use. Simple controls and sub-screens make it easy to enter or search for destinations and get data about your trip.

Beyond Navigation

Browse your stored pictures with an easy-to-use JPEG viewer. A handy MP3 player lets you play songs stored on SD memory cards. nüvi 250W accepts custom points of interest (POIs).

The nüvi 660 features travel tools including JPEG picture viewer, MP3 player, world travel clock with time zones, currency converter, measurement converter, calculator and more. It also comes with Garmin Lock, an anti-theft feature, and configurable vehicle icons that let you select car-shaped graphics to show your location on the map.

What Customers Say About Garmin nuvi 660 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator:

I rate this a 5 of 10 An example: I wanted to go to work and nuvi 660 wanted to totally go out of my way to go to work at a setting of FASTEST TIME. So far it's ok. I did have issue of it's mapping my home address and directions going to work. Maybe it's just my GPS CONFUSED.MP3, Bluetooth and other feature very useful.

Product create for be yours partner when drive or walk.So much option you can use.All of them very effective and helpful.

But the other issues I neeed to find a solution for. So I paid a lot extra to try features out I found useless. Here's where I have a real problem. This is my second Garmin, I had a Quest previous to this I used for over 60,000 miles.I like the touch screen, it's large easy to see and convenient compared to my old Quest which did not have a touchscreen. The FM transmitter was so weak, I drive around Southern California, that the hum noise on the "best channel" in the car was unbearable. So every 5-10 miles now the NUVI starts talking to me and telling me to keep left. I know that, I need directions when I get close to my exit, not during drivetime while I'm on the phone.I've sent emails to Garmin to ask them to tell me how to turn off highway guidance or do a firmware upgrade or just let me know what GPS I can buy that doesn't do that. It's easy to use, simple to enter addresses, fast to find and recalculate routes. This GPS will meet your needs as a basic GPS.The problem I have with it begins right there. Real time traffic, bluetooth, FM radio, MP3, Audiobooks, etc.The traffic always seemed to be about an hour behind real time, the bluetooth was easy to setup, but I was told I sounded like I was on a bad speakerphone.

I really like the way my old Quest mapped routes, when I needed to drive 40 miles north on the 405 freeway, It told me drive 40 miles then exit Wilshire for example. No response.I don't suggest buying this model mainly because I think you overpay for features you will never use. I've been using this GPS now for over a year, I've put 30,000 miles on it. I was excited to upgrade from the old Quest into a new model 4 years newer than what I had. This Nuvi has decided to get me excited at every freeway interchange, if you know southern CA there's a lot of freeways if you drive 40 miles on the 405.

I invested in the friction mount and I have not been disappointed. The FM transmitter seems to be a bit weak and sometimes it fades out if there are strong radio stations around. Because of this I almost always use the internal speaker. This means you may find yourself driving through some places that are dangerous if you're not familiar with the area, but I have yet to have any problems with this. The suction cup that comes with the unit is simply terrible, and you'll probably end up destroying the unit if you use it. The most recent software update from Garmin has fixed this issue for me.One complaint about the maps - they do not discriminate from nice neighborhoods and rough ones. I use it almost every day, and it has made my life much easier as now I never get lost, I never have to ask for directions (and be told wrong directions) or try to find my location on maps and rely on street signs that aren't there all the time. When I received this unit the bluetooth was a bit weird. I've had this unit for about two years now it is by far one of the best purchases I have ever made. It would give me a "phone disconnected" message about once every 2 seconds, about 10 times until it was finally able to connect to my phone. It tried it out for about a week and it dropped the GPS from the window onto the dash or floor several times.

I'd like to see a bit of an upgrade to the player so that you can randomize when choosing to Play All or when choosing an artist. It also doesn't take into consideration the capacity of the road. Now, it could be that all GPS units have these issues, I don't know.My main issue with this unit is that when deciding the fastest route, it completely ignores traffic signals. I also would like the ability to change the speed limit on certain roads, which would aleviate some of the logic flaws.I didn't realize how much I'd use the MP3 player, but now I can't live with out it. Excellent screen quality, great menu system, super easy to use.

The main problem is that the FM transmitter is pretty lousy, but if you have a line-input into your radio, you can get a cable to hook the headphone output to the line in. There's a direct route available for me from home to work, however it would take me 50 minutes to complete if I followed the Garmin because of the traffic signals, otherwise it takes me 35-40 minutes. The maps are 99.5% accurate, but that 0.5% error rate can be sometimes annoying.Cons:It's going to sound like I'm really bashing this unit, but I do like it. I've had the 660 for about 1.5 years, and bought it mainly for the live traffic updates.First the pros: Garmin is genius as far as ease of use. Even though I rated this unit 4 stars, there are some limitations.

Again, the route it wants me to take is a 2 lane road (1 each way) when a 4-lane road is perhaps a mile or two longer, but certainly faster. So in the end, they need to upgrade the logic of the "fastest route" algorithm.
